All holes are par 3. Even though we only have 14 golf holes, the Short Course score card is laid out in a way that a golfer can play a 14 or 18 hole round and still post an 18 hole score for handicap purposes. To play holes 15-18 simply play holes 1 thru 4 again being sure to tee off from the yardages indicated on the score card. (The yardages on the score card are from the PVC posts on each tee box.) When you play only a 14 hole round please be certain to convert it to an 18 hole score by using the conversion table posted at the golf computer. Based upon your handicap the table gives you scores to enter for holes 15-18. Click button on right to see the conversion table. The reason for this is because the handicap software in our golf computer calculates handicaps only for 18 hole scores. (See sample score card by pressing button on right.)
The SCGA Sanctioned "Blue" Course
Members from the SCGA helped us with the layout. In order to achieve the length required by the USGA for an 18 hole course we have installed a number of extra tee boxes. Typically this layout is only played Monday mornings by our SCGA members. The tees to be used for this layout are indicated by blue painted bricks embedded on both sides of the tee box. See the sample score card to understand the yardages. Holes to be played from yardages different from the standard Short Course card are indicated with a notation immediately under the hole # on the score card. These tee boxes are located the furthest back. For hole # 5 use the teeing ground for hole # 12 and play from the blue bricks to the # 5 green. Typically these tees will not have the customary round tee markers. Again, look for the blue bricks to know where to tee off. Note the two par 4's. After your tee shot on hole 9, tee another ball and hit your drive toward the 10 green. (#10 is your second of two par 4's.) To be introduced to the "Blue"course feel free to join us on a Monday morning to play a practice round during our regular weekly tournament.
FYI - In case you want to look us up on the SCGA website our official SCGA club name is Rancho Resort Golf Club. |
